Digfield Ales was established in 2005 at North Lodge Farm, Barnwell, following the purchase and installation of a 5 barrel plant (previously of Canon, Wellingborough) by partners Paul Waring, Michael Cohrs and Fred Roughton. The use of long established (North Lodge) field names for several of the beers reflects the farming background of this brewery, and provides the inspiration for wildlife artist Carry Akroyd’s distinctive livery and pump clip designs.

Digfield quickly established a reputation for producing fine quality ales. At their first Peterborough CAMRA beer festival in 2006 they achieved a rare accolade by securing awards in both the ‘new brewery’ category as well as in the main competition.

Seven years (and many more awards) later, and the brewery has now moved from its home at North Lodge. Increasing demand and steady growth has enabled the purchase of a brand new British built 15 barrel plant housed in larger premises at Lilford Lodge Farm, Barnwell.
