Maypole Brewery

Maypole Brewery was set up in 1995. It takes its name from the maypole situated on the village green at Wellow which is reputed to be one of the tallest permanent poles in England. In ten years we have gained a reputation for high quality hand-crated products, brewed in the traditional way with only the finest natural ingredients. All of our beers are cask-conditioned, meaning that it is a living product, served without added gas at the point of dispense, usually through a hand pump.

Allendale Brew Co

Allendale Brew Co is based in Allendale, South West Northumberland. We brewed our first batch of beer on St. Valentine's Day, 14th of February 2006. This is the first commercial brewing of beer in Allendale since the closure of the original Allendale Brewery, which finished as a brewery in 1887. The company is the dream of Tom and Jim Hick, Head Brewer and Mash Tun Monkey respectively.

Scrap The Tax on Beer

UK Pubs

UK Pubs are not the only place to enjoy a pint of real ale you can also enjoy a tasty beer in your own home or even your garden shed if you feel like it.

British Pubs are best known for the friendly atmosphere, a warm welcome and decent pint but the changing landscape of pubs is all so noticeable.  Only recently further taxes have been added to beer and the forecast is that more pubs will be closing.  This section will focus on the pubs that are still open and serve real ale.
