Based in an 18th century granary barn, Langham Brewery nestles in the rolling Sussex Downs between Midhurst and Petworth on the A272 and is well known locally for its traditional cask conditioned real ale.
Established in 2005 Langham Brewery has gone from strength to strength, already securing over 7 awards for its prize winning traditional ales. As a result the brewery team grown to cope with the increased demand – Steve Mansley and James Berrow, the founding partners have now been joined by Lesley Foulkes (partner – sales and admin), Saulo Parreira (chief brewery assistant) and David O’Malley (drayman par excellence!).
The brewery’s refurbished 10 barrel steam heated plant has been updated with the latest control and measurement equipment to ensure consistent and flavoursome beers every brew, but still keeps the original names that were on the vessels — Cathy the Copper, Martha the Mashtun and Fatima, Fiona, Freda and Fanny the fermenters!!
What sets Langham craft real ales apart is that the brewery uses only the finest quality UK sourced ingredients — water, floor malted barley and aroma hops, including a new variety called Sussex hops which come from just up the road in Northiam, W. Sussex. They also cask condition their beer — a more traditional method which gives a longer shelf life and more importantly better, fresher tasting beer. It’s not surprising that the brewery has won over seven awards in the last three years.
